We had a rainy morning here in Kinokawa. We don’t go out to the farms to work when it rains, so instead the three of us spent the morning on, for lack of a better word, crafts.
Today’s craft project

We’re making bags to put on some of our growing kaki fruits. By putting an alcohol-based mixture in the bag, we can make these kaki grow sweet and black. Now, let me walk you through the process.

We’re getting our bags from these packs of 100.

First, we flatten the bag while holding it from the closed end.

We then create a seal by wrapping a rubber band around the bag twice.

Finally, we fold the open end back over the base. Kansei!

It was my first time doing this, so I was only able to make about 500 of these in the course of 4 hours. Kogura-san and Shiromoto-chan both made nearly 1000 each! To wrap things up, let’s see the master at work.
