August 21st, 2025.

The high today during our working hours is 90 degrees Fahrenheit (about 32 Celcius).
As of my writing this, we haven’t had any more than a short rain for several weeks.
In the morning, Kogura-san mentioned how tough that is for farmers.

We’re back at the upper kaki grove today, and managed, in fact, to finish checking the trees here in the first hour of work today.
Right in the middle of my section, there was a pile of wild boar (inoshishi) droppings.

Fittingly, my next task for the day was to finish the preparation of the electric fence to keep those inoshishi out.
According to Kogura-san, they’ll be attracted to the sweet smell around here once we start alcohol-treating some of the kaki.
He also brought up a funny idea of his that I forgot to mention last week: since boar mostly rely on their sense of smell and are scared of humans, you could theoretically keep them away by scattering human hair around the farm.

I would help him with this project, but I don’t have a lot of spare hair for it.

I’ve mentioned before how nice the nature here at the upper farm is.
I actually enjoyed a new view while I worked my way around the outside of the farm. Take a look!

Finally, we finished setting up all the wiring and tested out the electric fence. I also want to include a picture of the generator for it:
